Managing Owners Between Announcement and Fix [Video]
When recalls are announced, there’s usually an official ownership date that goes along with it. However, there’s sometimes a gap between when the recall starts and when the fix is available. Dealers should be careful: You don’t want to lose engagement during this crucial time.
One obvious element is clarity. Owners should be aware of what they have to do and the risks they are facing. If there are loaners available for them to borrow, that needs to be clear.
There should also be instructions for how to proceed while parts are available. If the recall statement is detailed, the customer may forgive having to wait for a fix.
